How to create your own run command to open any application

The run command is a powerful feature of windows it can be used to open various applications directly instead of accessing their directory and then opening them.
For eg: type "notepad" in run dialogue box in windows and press enter
Notepad will open.

However we can not open all the applications this way, but you can make it possible in a really simple way as described below:

1. First of all make a shortcut of the application for which want to create your own run command. (You can even create command for the folders you open very frequently).
Eg: Google Chrome shortcut icon.

2. Name the shortcut with the same name as the name you have decided for the command. (In my case i gave the name "gch" to my google chrome shortcut icon)

3. Cut and paste this shortcut in C:\Windows. (Make sure you have adminitrative privileges before you do this).

4. You are ready to go, you have successfully created your own command ;)
Try opening run ( Window + R keys) and type the command you created it will work (If you followed correctly ).

NOTE:

  • Although by default there exist a run command for google chrome "gchrome" but if you create your own command both commands will work fine.
  • This method also works for individual files and folders in the same way.
